    So That’s How You March

Since being relegated to the outside this past Monday due to vacation Bible school hopefully we now all march a little better. It was good to get everyone back on the same page and marching again. It was the first time marching for a lot of students and everyone seemed to pick up on it pretty quickly. This will have you ahead of the game since you’ll be able to march once you have your uniform together and aren’t quite ready to march and play. For you piping students in case you didn’t know it’s almost like learning three instruments chanter, pipes, and pipes while moving. (At least it is to me but I’m slow like that) George commented that marching with the flag has been fun and helpful to him. I know it was for me as well. As soon as you get your uniform together you can march in the color guard.

I hope everyone is ready for and planning to attend the awards ceremony on Aug 4th. After the awards we’ll retreat to Rare Olde Times for socializing, eating, and potential imbibing. It should be a good time all around. There are guests, awards, and surprises in store for all. This event is for everyone friends, family, new members, and Emerald Society members so please plan on attending and letting me know if you will be attending Rare Old Times after so I can give them an accurate count. Email me at secretary@salpd.com

We have a few upcoming events:
    Brandywine Station on 7/31
William Wallace Day/SALPD Anniversary on 8/23

Please make sure you take a look at the previous post about a Scots/Irish Heriatage Month and please take a second to follow the link and sign the petition on line. Enjoy the slow period of events now because we slowly build in September with October and November looking REALLY busy. Buckle down now and practice, practice, practice. Chance will be with us this coming week as well so be prepared. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again it’s an honor to play with so many talented people. We’re growing and developing every week. Keep up the great work!
