On behalf of the officers of the SALPD in Richmond Virginia, I want to commend Doug Elder for all his hard work and endeavors to keep SALPD alive and flourishing in the internet world. Hopefully, this blog will serve to shed news of events, lessons, tips & ideas, and friendly communication within our ranks and our comrades wailing awa’ abroad. The phone has been ringing non stop since we hit four news venues within the last week, and already new venues and students have been booked/engaged just from that exposure alone. I also can’t express how much each and everyone of the SALPD has stepped up in the last seven months to take a positive role in not just advancing themselves individually, but reach out to anyone who needs help in learning his/her developing their talents. Our attitude is that we’ll never claim to be the best, we only want to make ourselves better and share with the world our heritage, culture, and talent along with our proud celtic history preserved. St. Andrew’s Legion has been making its’ mark for nearly 8 years now, and shall continue forward better than the day before. It’s amazing how many ways the organization is now branching out throughout the community. Sometimes it’s overwhelming. Last, I want to thank all of you throughout the public, celtic and pipeband communities that continue to give us your support.

Well as someone once said into the breach dear friends. Welcome to the Blog for St. Andrew’s Legion Pipes and Drums; Quick March. This will take the place of our old news section on the web site. We’ll post all the news, accolades, and information that would normally be passed on in the various forms. Hopefully this will be a fun way for us to communicate and keep everyone informed.
My goal is to see the instructors post lessons and goals to work on after class on Monday. Needless to say you are going to have to make sure you check the blog daily you never know when or who will post something.
The big news for today is of course the newspaper article the Richmond Times Dispatch published about us and our sister band the Emerald Society. Please follow the link and check out the article. Don’t forget to click the video tab to see us “hard at work”. Bagpipe group grows In addition to the piece in the newspaper there is a link on nbc12.com web site from where we performed at the Virginia Fallen Firefighters Memorial service this link is right here. Luckily there is no video because if the camera adds 10 pounds they must have had 10 cameras there. I’ll have more information on the awards presented to us once Robin gets me the photos of the award prior to it being “stored” in our trophy case.
Needless to say it was an honor to perform for our extended firefighter family. They risk their lives for us everyday and sometimes pay the price. To keep up with us make sure you suscribe to our newsletter here and chekc the blog frequently for all the latest news.
